Introducing the new backyard flock!!
Well, I've wanted chicks (baby chickens, not young ladies...ha!) for over a month. Not sure if I'm the only one that does this, but when I get interested in something, I research everything about it and try to make the best decision I can. I went back and forth a few times and finally decided that YES, I want them and am ready for a backyard flock. Jerud, surprised me one afternoon when he bought me the coop I liked. I knew I was going to use Bert's kennel as a brooder, so all I needed was to find out what breeds I wanted and how many to get.
Today, I'm going to introduce you to the new additions. I'll give you more details about the prep of getting chickens in a later post, but I know you want to meet the girls!
We just brought them home today, so we are taking suggestions for naming them! These girls are all brown egg layers, so we may still get an Ameraucana for some green eggs.
