My Inspiration

As you have probably gathered, my whole inspiration for this blog and website is to slow down and enjoy the little things.  Well, what better way to get inspired than to do just that and read some recipes.

This weather has been so amazing, I have felt totally rejuvenated.  I know we need the rain, but if we could have sunny weather every day without getting into a drought, I'd be a happy camper. I hope you've all gotten outside and enjoyed it! My dad has always loved being outdoors.  He also loves to cook.  As kids, we had chores we had to do, but once the chores were done, I'd be in the kitchen with my dad cooking or watching him cook.  He's got a natural ability to cook and a passion for it.

He's the kind of guy that will keep making a recipe until he gets it perfect.  He was pickling everything for awhile: pickled eggs, pumpkin, sauerkraut, you name it and he probably tried to pickle it.  Then he was on a sourdough kick.  There was always a sourdough start in the fridge and some baking in the oven.  He also loves cook books.  If you are ever in a bind and don't know what to get him, a cook book is a safe bet.  Well, unless he's already got it.  He got me this amazing little book for no reason at all.  How cute is that?!

I'm going to be making a recipe this week from a collection of recipes that his best friend, Chris Zach, put together.  He's no longer with us, but his recipes live on.  Get ready!  He loved bold flavors and hearty meals.
